Sunnyside- Part 2
It made me really happy to visit Sunnyside Learning for the second time. This time, I was there to launch their new reading club with a session on my latest book, Thulir’s Stroll. We started with a fun treasure hunt where the children searched for different plants and animals from the Western Ghats. After that, I read poems from the book, and the best part was that the kids got to choose which ones they wanted me to read.
Then we did a creative writing and drawing activity. The children picked something they liked about nature and drew or wrote about it. I got to see some really sweet work: one girl drew a sunflower, another group made a beach scene, one child drew monkeys on trees, and another made a small booklet about tigers.
When I was signing copies of Thulir’s Stroll, I found out that there was a little girl in the audience named Thulir! That was such a lovely surprise.
What I love most about Sunnyside is how open and free the learning space is. Children are encouraged to think in their own way instead of being put into a box, and that’s something truly special.
