Sunnyside Learning
In the last few months, I developed a keen interest in the activities at Sunnyside Learning Centre in Kottivakkam, Chennai. What amazed me most was the school’s approach to learning, as they actively involved students in various activities to develop creative and critical thinking skills. It was also exciting to see the school place a strong emphasis on environmental awareness.
Luckily, I had the opportunity to interact with the kids and share my stories with them. They were an enthusiastic group, full of questions. They were eager to learn more about wild gaurs and their role as keystone species. They were also curious about what these majestic beasts ate, how they moved so swiftly, and why they were leaving the forests.
My storytelling session ended with an activity where I asked the kids to draw or write about their connection with nature. They could write about their relationship with a bird, the experience of walking through a forest, or time spent on the beach.
I had a wonderful time at Sunnyside Learning. The kids were both well behaved and inquisitive, making the session truly enjoyable.
